Tragedy at St. Matthew's Secondary School

We received the following email from GEF Kenya Director, Fred Afwai, over the weekend:

This evening around 3 pm the school caught on fire starting from boys' dormitory and destroyed the whole school. We cannot know the cause because there was no power in our area neither do they use gas at the school.

This is a huge tragedy for the community and the students that attend the school. Our thoughts are with our friends in Kenya during this trying time.

GEF continues to support all its scholars, including the ten attending St. Matthew's.
